A&A
officer.
- Archaeology
and anthropology
specialist, staff officer on Federation starships. Lt. Palamas
was A&A officer on the Enterprise
when it visited Pollux
IV in 2267 and Talin
IV in 2269. Dr. Ramsey
occupied this
position on the Yamato-E
until
it's 2365 destruction. Lt. Marla
Aster
was A&A officer on the Enterprise-D
until her death in 2366. ("Who
Mourns for Adonais" [TOS #33]; "Prime
Directive" [Pocket TOS HC #4]; "Contagion"
[TNG #37]; "The
Bonding" [TNG
#53]). Assuming this position continued into the 24th century, it would
fit the job description of Marla Aster. Dr. Ramsey was mentioned as
being
in charge of archaeology by Captain Varley
in his log entry.
- A.F.
- Starfleet
Academy acquaintance of Jean-Luc
Picard.
Picard failed organic chemistry because of A.F. and carved A.F.'s
initials
into Boothby's
prized elm tree on the parade
grounds. ("The
Game" [TNG #106]).
- A-koo-chee-moya.
- Native
American term used in
the vision quest prayer of Chakotay. ("The
Cloud" [VGR #6]; "Initiations" [VGR #21]).
- Aaamazzara.
- Homeworld
of the Aaamazzarites.
Thanks to the building weaving skills of the Aaamazzarite Therbians,
the
planet is very much a natural haven with little damage to the ecology
from
mining or waste materials. ("The
Motion Picture" [Movie #1]). The appearance of this race was either
deleted or not prominent in the final cut of the movie, but is depicted
in literature describing the production of that film, most notably a
recent
article in Star Trek: The Magazine.
-
Aaamazzarites.
- Federated
humanoid species from
Aaamazzara distinguished by large bald, bulbous, ridged heads. They are
also sometimes referred to as Therbians. Aaamazzarite Therbians are
somewhat
insectoid, and weave a silk like material from their bodies that can be
made into clothing or, correctly hardened, used as a material for the
building
of structures. In 2272, a party of Aaamazzarite Therbians were present
on the planet Earth representing their home planet at Starfleet
Headquarters. ("The
Motion Picture" [Movie #1]). The appearance of this race was either
deleted
or not prominent in the final cut of the movie, but is depicted in
literature
describing the production of that film, most notably a recent article
in
Star Trek: The Magazine.

- Aakenn-class
- Type
of freighter used by the
Federation during the Four Years War. These vessels were used to ferry
equipment and supplies to the Klingon
incursion
zones during that conflict. The single-nacelled ship normally crewed 54
officers and men, and posessed a large forward facing shuttlebay
connected
to its inner cargo hull for the purpose of offloading supply pallets. (Federation
Starship Recognition Manual [FASA RPG]). The Aakenn-class
schematic
shown I created for http://captainmike.org. Please reuse only with a
link
back to my site.
- ships
of this class/type include:
- Aakenn,
U.S.S.
- Federation
starship, an Aakenn-class
freighter. Built in the mid 23rd century, this was the first vessel of
its type. (Conjecture).
- Aamot,
U.S.S.
- Federation
starship, Oberth-class.
The Aamot was involved in an altercation with Klingon
forces in the Petras system in the early 2290s. ("Klingon Academy"
[Interplay]).
-
Aaraka,
Stoy.
- Andorian
scientist. Aaraka was
once suspected of committing a murder while aboard the starship Enterprise. ("The
Sweet Smell of Evil" [Gold Key TOS #48]).
-
Aaron.
- Starfleet
admiral who, in 2364,
was taken over by alien parasites that infiltrated Starfleet Command. ("Conspiracy"
[TNG #25]). Played by Ray Reinhardt, who later portrayed Tolen Ren in
"Ex
Post Facto" [VGR #8].
- Aaronson.
- Instructor
at Starfleet Academy
teaching third-year subspace mechanics in the early 2250s. ("Republic"
[Pocket TOS #85]).
- Abaco.
- Abaco
is an island archipelago
in the northeastern Bahamas located 180 miles east of the Floridian
peninsula
of Terra's North American continent. It is the location of Man-O-War
Cay,
where there is an ancient sailing ship marina and a substantially newer
starcraft port, where the S.S. Banana Republic was landed in
the
2260s. ("Battlestations!" [Pocket TOS #31]).
- Abad'da
II.
- Planet,
home to the Abad'dich
people. Abad'da II is close to the Altair system. ("The Last Verse"
[DC TNG vol.2 #70]).
- Abad'dich.
- Inhabitants
of Abad'da II. The
Abad'dich are also known as the Weapons Makers, because of their skill
at building arms of any kind. They are frequently contracted by other
worlds
to furnish weapons. It was believed by Riker that these people
furnished
large automated engines of destruction to the people of Altair III. ("The
Last Verse" [DC TNG vol.2 #70]).
- Abaddon.
- Delta
Quadrant junkyard operator. ("Alice"
[VGR]).
- Abarca.
- Qomarian.
("Virtuoso" [VGR]).
- Abbakh.

warrior, brother of
Kedjesa. A former hunting companion of General Martok. ("New
Worlds,
New Civilizations" [Pocket]).
-

- Abbé-class.
- Type
of Federation starship,
classified as a torpedo destroyer. (Jackill's Blueprints). The Abbé-class
schematic shown I created for http://captainmike.org. Please reuse only
with a link back to my site.
-
Abbé,
U.S.S.
- Federation
starship, Abbé-class
torpedo destroyer, Starfleet registry NCC-5300. (Jackill's
Blueprints).
- Abbis,
Mendan.
- Thallonian,
the bastard son
of Gerrid Thul. Abbis was involved in Thul's treasonous plot to create
a Melacronai-Cordracite war in 2251. Mendan was then killed when he
attempted
to engage the starship Stargazer in battle. Thul blamed Jean-Luc
Picard and the Federation for the boy's death. ("The First
Virtue"
[Pocket TNG #56]).
- Abdon.
- Engineering
officer assigned
to starbase Deep Space Nine. ("The Assignment" [DS9]).
-
Abdoria,
U.S.S.
- Federation
starship, Abbé-class
torpedo destroyer, Starfleet registry NCC-5318. (Jackill's
Blueprints).
- Aberdeen
Solution.
- Engineering
experiment in which
teenage student Montgomery Scott disproved the Perera Field Theory by
constructing
seven interlinked shield generators to imitate a Klingon squadron's
deflectors. ("The
Kobayashi Maru" [Pocket TOS #47]).
-
Abila,
U.S.S.
- Federation
starship, Akyazi-class
perimeter action ship, Starfleet registry NCC-1044. The Abila's
keel was laid down on 5 April 2286 by Arbing & Lidde Starship
Construction
in Boston on Terra. Launched on 17 June 2287 and commissioned on 3
December
2287. The Abila was part of Perimeter Action Group 45, a patrol
and reconaissance force, and was based at Star Station Eureka in the
2290s. (Ships
of the Star Fleet Volume 2 [Mastercom]).
-
Ability,
U.S.S.
- Federation
starship, Knox-class
frigate, Starfleet registry NCC-1953. The Ability's keel was
laid
down on 12 January 2277 by Newport News Shipbuilding in Louisiana on
Terra.
Launched on 22 January 2278 and commissioned on 9 July 2278. The Ability,
along with the starships Thach and Avenger, was
involved
in the defeat of Klingon forces at Pelarsk in the early 2280s. (Ships
of the Star Fleet [Mastercom]).
- Abinarri.
- Alien
species found on the other
side of Hel's Gate. The ancient Abinarri were savages, who would kill
over
the slightest of grievances. Cannibalism ran rampant and was preferred
in some areas. A caste known as lawmakers emerged and, desperate to
control
their people, created one of the most complex and restrictive judiciary
orders ever codified. After their planet achieved peace, the lawmakers
moved out into space and began to impose their laws onto over thirty
other
races. An Abinarri fleet headed off Red Abby's captured warbird when
she
passed through Hel's Gate with Picard
and Worf searching for her brother, Richard, who had allegedly found
the
hoard of Dujonian. Red Abby and her surviving crew decided to stay and
join in rebellion against the Abinarri. ("Dujonian's Hoard" [Pocket
Captain's Table #2]).

resembling a Terran clarinet. ("New Worlds, New Civilizations"
[Pocket]).
- Abitibi,
U.S.S.
- Federation
starship, Arbiter-class
perimeter action ship, Starfleet registry NCC-1068. The Abitibi's
keel was laid down on 1 May 2286 at Starfleet's Puget Sound yards
Terra.
Launched on 17 July 2287, the Abitibi was scheduled to join
Perimeter
Action Group 14, a patrol and reconnaissance force based at Starbase 26
in the 2290s. (Ships
of the Star Fleet Volume 2 [Mastercom]).
-
ablative
armor.
- Outer
layer of a starship's
hull designed to dissipate energy in order protect the ship from
weapons
fire. One of the first ships to be outfitted with an armor matrix was
the
prototype Defiant. In 2371 chroniton particles emitted by a
cloaking
device became lodged in its armor causing a temporal anomaly. Starfleet
Operations was not aware that the Defiant was outfitted with
this
improvement until 2372. The prototype Prometheus was also
equipped
with this improvement. ("Past Tense" [DS9 #57&58]; "The Way of
the
Warrior" [DS9 #73&74]; "Paradise Lost" [DS9 #84]; "Message in a
Bottle"
[VGR #81]).
- Abramowitz,
Carol.
- Enlisted
Starfleet crewperson.
Abramowitz serves as cultural specialist for the S.C.E. team aboard the
starship da Vinci. ("The Belly of the Beast" [Pocket SCE];
"Fatal
Error" [Pocket SCE]; "Interphase" [Pocket SCE]; "Cold Fusion" [Pocket
SCE]).
- Abrams.
- Security
officer on the Enterprise
who participated in an away mission to the planet Deneva in 2267. ("Operation:
Annihilate" [TOS #29]).
-
Abrams,
U.S.S.

U.S.S.
- Federation
starship, Akyazi-class
perimeter action ship, Starfleet registry NCC-1169. Built in Louisiana
on Terra by Newport News Shipbuilding. Commissioned on 16 September
2284.
The Abreus was destroyed when, responding to a supposed
distress
signal from a TacFleet vessel, it was ambushed by no less than seven
Klingon
allied vessels. (Ships of the Star Fleet, vol. 2).
- Abrom.
- Zeon,
member of the underground
on planet Ekos fighting against fascist oppression in 2268. Abrom and
his
brother Isak aided Kirk
and Spock
in finding Federation observer John Gill. ("Patterns of Force" [TOS
#52]). Played by William Wintersole.
-
absorbed.
- Term
used to describe members
of the society on planet Beta III who were controlled by the computer
known
as Landru. When a person was absorbed, their individual will was
stripped
and they were forced to behave in a manner that the computer judged as
being beneficial to society. ("Return
of the Archons" [TOS #22]).
-
Abu
Bekr, U.S.S.
- Federation
starship, Cochise-class
destroyer, Starfleet registry NCC-549. (Technical
Manual [Franz Joseph TOS]).
- Academy.
- Planet
in Federation space.
So named because this world has a settlement almost entirely devoted to
learning institutions, including a annex of Starfleet Academy. In 2269
the starship Enterprise
transported
Commodore James Atheling to become the dean of Academy's Starfleet
College
of Science. The dean of Starship Flight Training on that planet was
Commodore
Martin Lawrence. ("Planet of Judgement" [Bantam TOS]).
-
Academy.
- SEE:
Starfleet Academy.
-
Academy
commandant.
- Starfleet
officer in command
of Starfleet Academy, usually the rank of admiral. In 2372 the Academy
commandant was a Bolian admiral who was part of Admiral Leyton's
conspiracy
to take over Earth. Other Academy commandants have included Admiral
Brand
and Admiral Pradesh. Captain Picard
turned down this position in 2364 when offered it by Admiral Quinn. ("The
First Duty" [TNG]; "Paradise Lost" [DS9 #84]). The Bolian admiral in
"Paradise
Lost," whose name wasn't alluded to in the episode, was played by
Rudolph
Willrich.
-
Academy
Flight Range.
- Located
near Saturn in the Sol
system, an area reserved for flight exercises by cadets from Starfleet
Academy. An accident at the Academy Flight Range in 2368 took the life
of cadet Joshua Albert. ("The First Duty" [TNG #119]).
-
 Academy
Grounds.
- Expanse
of land in San Francisco
where the campuses and dormitories of Starfleet Academy is located. The
landscaping was supervised by Boothby, who performed this role for over
90 years. ("The First Duty" [TNG #119]).
- Academy
Institute.
- Educational
institution on Terra.
As the name may suggest, Academy Institute is intended as a preparatory
school for students in high school grades wishing to move on to
Starfleet
Academy. Kathryn Janeway desired attending this school, but her father
desired she get a more well-rounded instruction at the Meadows school. ("Mosaic"
[Pocket VGR HC #1]).
- Academy
range officer.
- Starfleet
officer in charge
of the Academy Flight Range. ("The First Duty" [TNG #119]).
- Academy
of Sciences.
- Educational
institution on Deneb
V. ("The Pirates of Orion" [Log #5 #2]).
- Acamar.
- Star
also known as Theta Eridani,
around which Acamar III orbits. In 2268, preparing to test Inversion
Drive,
the Enterprise
set a course
towards Acamar, away from Hamal. ("The Vengeance Factor" [TNG #57];
"The Wounded Sky" [Pocket TOS #13]).
- Acamar
III.
- Home
planet of the Acamarian
race. The Enterprise-D
met
Sovereign Marouk and her attendants there in 2366. ("The Vengeance
Factor"
[TNG #57]).
- Acamarian
brandy.
- Alcoholic
beverage served on
Acamar III. ("The Vengeance Factor" [TNG #57]).
-
 Acamarians.
- Humanoid
race native to Acamar
III. The Acamarians had enjoyed peace for the past century, with the
exception
of Acamar's nomadic Gatherers, who left their homeworld to become
interstellar
marauders. These races appeared largely human with the exception of a
facial
cleft in their foreheads and the use of individual decorative facial
tattooing.
Acamarian blood is made up of an unusual iron-copper composite, making
it readily identifiable. In Acamarian culture, membership in a clan is
considered of great social and political importance, and conflicts
between
various clans often became violent. One such feud, between the Lornacks
and the Tralestas, lasted some three centuries, and ended only after
the
last Tralesta was dead. The Acamarian government, headed by Sovereign
Marouk,
extended an offer of reconciliation to the renegade Gatherers in 2366.
The negotiations, mediated by Jean-Luc
Picard, were eventually successful. ("The Vengeance Factor"
[TNG
#57]).
-
Acavus,
U.S.S.
- Federation
starship, Akyazi-class
perimeter action ship, Starfleet registry NCC-1025. Built at the Baltic
Yards in Leningrad on Terra. Commissioned on August 27, 2284. The Acavus
was part of Perimeter Action Group 52, and was based at Starbase 7 in
the
2290s. Along with the starship Eleusis, the Acavus
became
the first ship of its class to engage in actual combat, neutralizing 4
Orion vessels near the Klingon border. (Ships
of the Star Fleet Volume 2 [Mastercom]).
- ACB.
- SEE:
annular confinement beam.
- accelerated
critical neural pathway formation.
- Medical
procedure that uses
genetic re-coding to alter the brain of humanoid patients. Although it
was banned in the Federation, physicians on the planet Adigeon Prime
used
the procedure to enhance the brain of Julian Bashir when he was almost
seven years old. The procedure is illegal in laws that date back to
Terra's
Eugenics Wars. Not only did genetically enhanced individuals tend to
become
overambitious and break societal rules, but if they were allowed to
compete
freely, then parents would feel pressured to have their children
enhanced
to keep up. This procedure was first practiced on Earth by Dr. Sarina
Kaur,
on children at the Chrysalis project in the early 1970s, including her
own genetically engineered son, Khan Noonien Singh. ("Doctor
Bashir,
I Presume" [DS9 #114]; "Statistical Probabilities" [DS9 #133]; "The
Rise
and Fall of Khan Noonien Singh" [Pocket Eugenics Wars]).
- accelerometer.
- Instrument
used to measure the
direction and amount of velocity change. ("Twisted" [VGR #19]).
-
Accent,
U.S.S.
- Federation
starship, Advance-class
through-deck cruiser, Starfleet registry NCC-1984. (Ships
of the Star Fleet [Mastercom]).
-
access
terminal.
- Connector
used on Borg ships
to allow individuals to link to the collective. ("I, Borg" [TNG
#123]).
- access
tunnel.
- Series
of passageways traversing
Cardassian space stations such as DS9, similar to Starfleet Jefferies
Tubes,
filled with circuitry and other utilities that may be accessed for
repairs.
The device responsible for the aphasia virus was located in one of the
access tunnels containing the food replicator circuitry. O'Brien and
Tosk
used an access tunnel to escape hunters from the Gamma Quadrant. ("Babel"
[DS9 #5]).
-
Accipiter,
U.S.S.
- Federation
starship, Akyazi-class
perimeter action ship, Starfleet registry NCC-1035. Built by Rapier
Dynamics
Group in Melbourne on Terra. Commissioned on November 29, 2284. The Accipiter
was part of Perimeter Action Group 27, and was based at Starbase 16 in
the 2290s. (Ships
of the Star Fleet Volume 2 [Mastercom]).
- Accolan.
- Citizen
and artist on the planet
Aldea who would have helped raise Harry Bernard, Jr., child of an Enterprise-D
crewmember, had Harry and other children remained on Aldea in 2364. ("When
the Bough Breaks" [TNG #18]). Played by Dan Mason.
-
Accra,
U.S.S.
- Federation
starship, Akyazi-class
perimeter action ship, Starfleet registry NCC-1047. Built by Newport
News
Shipbuilding in Louisiana on Terra. The Accra was part of
Perimeter
Action Group 38, and was based at Outpost Principale in the 2290s. (Ships
of the Star Fleet Volume 2 [Mastercom]).
- Acerra,
U.S.S.
- Federation
starship, Arbiter-class
perimeter action ship, Starfleet registry NCC-1049. Built by Rodriquez
Ingeniera in Lima on Terra. Commissioned on 10 May 2285. The Acerrawas
part of Perimeter Action Group 18, and was based at Starbase 10 in the
2290s. (Ships
of
the Star Fleet Volume 2 [Mastercom]).
- aceton
assimilators.
- Weapon
used by the Menthars
in their war with the Promellians a thousand years ago. Aceton
assimilators
could drain power from distant sources (such as an enemy ship), then
use
that power to irradiate the ship's crew. The Menthars placed thousands
of these devices in the asteroid field created by the destruction of
Orelious
IX, trapping the Promellian cruiser Cleponji a millennium ago.
The
devices, remaining active, trapped the Enterprise-D
there in 2366. ("Booby Trap" [TNG #54]).
- acetylcholine.
- Biochemical
substance, a neurotransmitter
that promotes the propagation of electrical impulses from one nerve
cell
to another in carbon-based life. Spock
performed
an acetylcholine test on a huge spaceborne amoeba creature that
destroyed
the Gamma 7A system in 2267, improperly according to Dr. McCoy. Levels
of acetylcholine in the hippocampus can quantify the amount of memory
an
individual has accumulated. Akritiri prison inmates are fitted with
neural
clamps that stimulate acetylcholine production in the hypothalamus to
stimulate
aggressive tendencies to keep them at each other's throats. ("The
Immunity
Syndrome" [TOS #48]; "All Good Things..." [TNG #177&178]; "The
Chute"
[VGR #47]).
- Achaea,
U.S.S.
- Federation
starship, Grin'ki-class
tender, Starfleet registry NCC-4867. Assigned to Starbase 10. (Ships
of the Star Fleet [Mastercom]).
- Achen.
- Starfleet
lieutenant, an engineering
officer onboard the USS Enterprise-E.
("Avatar"
[Pocket DS9 vol.2 #1]).
- Achernar.
- Code-name
of a Romulan trader
captured by the starship Enterprise
in 2282. Achernar had been contracted by Praetor Tahn to recover his
treasures,
which he believed had been stolen because of his involvement with the
Ten,
a secret Romulan organization. ("The Pandora Principle" [Pocket TOS
#49]).
- Achernar.
- Star
in Federation space, also
known as Alpha Eridani. The starship Enterprise
set a course to the third planet in this system to surreptitiously
evade
the Klingon cruiser Rapache in 2267. Achernar collapsed into a
black
hole when the Guardian of Forever malfunctioned and accelerated time in
2284. The starship Constellation-A was dragged into the
singularity
and destroyed. The starships Sovereign, Haruna, Soryu
and Hashishiyun engaged in operations near here in May 2288. ("Time
for Yesterday" [Pocket TOS #39]; Ships
of the Star Fleet [Mastercom]). It is unclear if Achernar remained
collapsed after the Guardian of Forever was repaired, or whether it is
a black hole to this day.
- Achernar,
U.S.S.
- Federation
starship. Named for
the star Achernar. Built at Starfleet's San Francisco Fleet Yards on
Terra.
Commissioned on March 12, 2260. (Technical
Manual [Franz Joseph TOS]; Ships
of the Star Fleet [Mastercom]).
- Achilles.
- Popular
gladiator on the planet
892 IV, who fought McCoy and Spock
in a televised
arena in 2267. ("Bread and Circuses" [TOS #43]). Played by Max
Kelvin.
- Achilles.
- Terran
starship. In 2150 the
Achilles suffered an equipment failure that necessitated their return
to
their last port of call, Dinai station. Upon arriving, a coded distress
call was received from the station, which had been taken captive by
pirates.
Several Achilles crewpeople, including Captain Lyman, were killed in a
liberation attempt and subsequent attack on the Achilles. ("What
Price Honor?" [Pocket ENT #2]).
-
Achilles,
U.S.S.
- Federation
starship, Saladin-class
destroyer, Starfleet registry NCC-551. (Technical
Manual [Franz Joseph TOS]).
-
Achilles,
U.S.S.
- Federation
starship, commanded
by Adam Crowe. Second starship to bear the name. The Achilles
was
destroyed in 2254 at the battle of Theta Kalyb, but 53 survivors were
beamed
aboard the starship Enterprise.
("The
Fallen" [Marvel EV #10&11]; "Futures" [Marvel EV #12-14]).
-
Achilles,
U.S.S.
- Federation
starship, Excelsior-class
explorer, third starship to bear the name. (FASA Officer's Manual
[TNG]).
-
Achilles,
U.S.S.
- Federation
starship, Oberth-class
scout, fourth starship to bear the name. The Achilles met with
the Enterprise-D
in 2371 to drop off tactical advisor Kyle Riker. ("War &
Madness,
Part I: The First Casualty" [DC TNG vol.2 #71]).
- Achrady
VII.
- Planet
visited by Lwaxana Troi
for a diplomatic conference in 2366, located a short distance from
Starbase
12. ("Captain's Holiday" [TNG #67]).
- acidichloride.
- Gaseous
toxic chemical, corrosive
to organic matter. In 2372 when Tom Paris was undergoing a mutation,
the
Doctor surrounded his patient with a force field containing an
acidichloride-nitrogen
mixture. ("Threshold" [VGR #32]).
-
Acorn.
- Starfleet
fightercraft based
on Starbase 10, part of Oak Squadron. In a 2250s mission to Pojjan,
this
vessel was piloted by Jason Bolt. ("Red
Sector" [Pocket TNG #53]). I have supplied a graphic of a Peregrine-class
vessel, but the ships class was not revealed in the novel.
- acoustic
inverter
- Component
of a sonic shower
unit. ("Day of Honor" [VGR #72]).
- Acre,
U.S.S.
- Federation
starship, a destroyer-type
vessel. Built in the 23rd century. (Federation
Starship Recognition Manual [FASA RPG]). The manual listed this as
a Larson-class
destroyer
with a registry of NCC-4372. I haven't listed it in the main body of
the
entry, because it seems unlikely Starfleet would have so many hundreds
of the same type of ship.
-
Acri,
U.S.S.
- Federation
starship, Akyazi-class
perimeter action ship, Starfleet registry NCC-1039. Newport News
Shipbuilding
in Louisiana on Terra. Commissioned on July 7, 2286. The Acri
was
part of Perimeter Action Group 12, and was based at Star Station
Brasilia
in the 2290s. (Ships
of the Star Fleet Volume 2 [Mastercom]).

- Brightest
star in the constellation
Crux, the cross. Also known as Alpha Crucis. (Technical
Manual [Franz Joseph TOS]).
- Acrux,
U.S.S.
- Federation
starship, Starfleet
registry NCC-1818. Built by Newport News Shipbuilding at East Bank
facility
on Deneb V. Commissioned on stardate 8001.5. Named for the star Acrux. (Technical
Manual [Franz Joseph TOS]; Ships
of the Star Fleet [Mastercom]).
- Acta
Mega-Astrophysicalis.
- Scientific
journal that published
an article by Spock
about the kinematics of
nuclear regions in barred spiral galaxies. One
- wonders
where he got his figure
for radial motion, which would seem to be precluded by the Tully-T'Laea
relation. ("The Wounded Sky" [Pocket TOS #13]).
- actinides.

Darryl.
- Born
in 2321, the chief of security

and then the Seeker. He was decorated when on the planet
Twenginian
he routed a nest of Orion slavers and received a broken back, and then,
on Conquiidor he freed two hundred Federation civilians from Orion
slavery.
He was assigned to the Starbound as chief of security after
that.
The Starbound was attacked, and most of it's crew slaughtered
by
Orions in 2360, and Adin was court-martialed for suspected sabotage. He
was drummed out of Starfleet, becoming, under the alias Adrian Dareau,
the mercenary Silver Paladin. In 2364, it was proven that Chief

Starship Recognition Manual [FASA RPG]). The manual listed this as
a Larson-class
destroyer

- Advance-class.
- Type
of Federation starship,
classified as a through-deck cruiser. Similar to an Constitution-class
Enterpriserefit
starship in design, the Advance's secondary hull was almost completely
devoted to shuttlecraft operations, allowing it to deploy large numbers
of workbees, fighters or scouts, as the situation might call for from
it's
two shuttlebays. The Advance, Adroit, Accent,
and Adamant
are Advance-class starships. (Ships
of the Star Fleet [Mastercom]).
-
Advance,

- Type
of Federation frigate built
during the mid to late 24th century. ("Armada II" [Activision]).
The Aegian-class
schematic was drawn by Alexander Hartmann, please provide credit if you
reuse it. Many question why this ship's class name isn't the more
accepted
spelling, 'Aegean,' but perhaps it is an oddity of future language.
-
Aegian,

starship, prototype for the Aegian-class
frigate. The Aegian was constructed sometime in the mid to late
24th century. (Conjecture).

-
Aeon.
- Federation
timeship from the
29th century, commanded by Captain Braxton. The Aeon was sent
back
in time to 2373 to destroy the starship Voyager after that
vessel
was implicated in the 29th century destruction of the Sol system. The Aeon
was trapped in the 20th century subsequent to that failed attempt, and
crashed on Earth.
It
was found by Henry Starling in 1967 and he used it's technology to
create
a financial empire by creating the first computer age. Aeon was
destroyed by Voyager when Starling attempted to use it to
travel
to the 29th century, an action that would destroy Earth. Since that
timeline
was avoided, an alternate Aeon still existed and
escorted Voyager
back to 2373. ("Future's End" [VGR #50&51]).
-
Aeloran.
- Captain
of the Orion vessel Stellar
Storm. Aeloran and his crew were assimilated by Ravens in 2268 and
his ship destroyed by a Starfleet crew in command of the I.K.S. Falchion.
("Dreams
of the Raven" [Pocket TOS #34]).
- Aerfen,
U.S.S.
- Federation
starship, a patrol
fighter commanded by Captain Hunter. Aerfen was a fighter on
the
Klingon border, lead ship of Hunter's squadron. It was involved in the
liberation of Ganjitsu, a human settlement where Hikaru Sulu lived. At
a stopover at Ganjitsu, 15 year old Hikaru Sulu snuck aboard Aerfen
to look around, but was caught by the vessels first lieutenant. The
officer
proceeded to show him around. Sulu had hoped to be assigned to this
ship
upon his Academy graduation, but was ordered aboard the Enterprise
instead. On stardate 5001, Aerfen stopped over at planet Aleph
for
repairs after a battle in which two crewman were lost. ("The

space. Aexix has two class-M worlds, the second planet and also a moon
of the fifth planet. This location was searched by the Enterprise-D
in 2369 when Captain Picard
went missing
in an abandoned alien long range space transporter facility ("Requiem"
[Pocket TNG #32]).
