E-band
emissions.
-
Electromagnetic signals sometimes
emitted by collapsing protostars. E-band transmissions were used by Romulan
operatives in 2367 as a means of secretly transmitting commands to Geordi
LaForge through his VISOR. Those signals were delta-compressed on a frequency
similar to that of human brainwaves. ("The Mind's Eye" [TNG]).
-
E-mail.
-
Electronic mail, a term coined
in the last quarter of the 1900s. The transmission of data and messages
from one computer to another. This method of communication was used extensively
in the 20th and 21st centuries, on primitive silicon-based computers that
used archaic icon based operating systems.. ("Past Tense" [DS9]; "Future's
End" [VGR]).

-
Noted aviator, the first woman
to fly alone across Earth's Atlantic Ocean, born in 1898. Earhart disappeared
without a trace in 1937 while flying a Lockheed Electra aircraft in an
attempt to fly around the Earth. Unknown to the population of 20th century
Earth, Earhart and her navigator Fred Noonan were among some three hundred
humans abducted from the planet and taken some 70,000 light-years to the
Briori homeworld in the Delta Quadrant. Earhart and six other abductees
were kept in cryostasis for centuries until they were revived in 2371 by
the crew of the starship Voyager. Earhart and Noonan both elected
to remain on the former Briori planet they were discovered on along with
a colony descended from the original abductees. ("The 37's" [VGR]).

Starfleet Lieutenant Commander.
Assigned as Starfleet security liaison to DS9 in 2371 with the arrival
of the USS Defiant. Revealed to be a Maquis traitor in 2372 when
he hijacked a shipment of industrial replicators destined for the Cardassians.
Before he left to join the Maquis he planted a number of cascade viruses
in the USS Defiant and DS9 computer cores. Eventually captured by Captain
Sisko using some very unorthodox tactics. Taken by Sisko into the Badlands
to prevent a group of surviving Maquis from launching a retaliatory strike
against Cardassia and possibly precipitating and full-scale war, the plan
was actual a hoax to rescue Rebecca Sullivan and others from a remote base.
He sacrificed his life to stall a squad of Jem'Hadar on Althos IV and give
time for Captain Sisko to get away. ("The Search" [DS9]; "The Die is
Cast" [DS9]; "For the Cause" [DS9]; "For the Uniform" [DS9]; "Blaze of
Glory" [DS9]). Played by Kenneth Marshall.
-
Edentata.
-

Politically powerful Danterian
family of which Falkar and his son Ryjaan were members. ("Endgame" [Pocket
NF #4])
-
Edo.
-
Humanoid species from Rubicun
III, very similar to Terrans. A strange mixture of hedonistic sexuality
and puritanical respect for a draconian legal code. In the distant past,
the Edo were a lawless and chaotic people, through time they developed
a legal system where a small number of "mediators" patrol randomly selected
"punishment zones" where any infraction, even if accidental, results in
immediate execution without appeal. Since the "punishment zones" are randomly
chosen and rapidly changing, the system is a powerful incentive to obey
all laws. The Edo welcome visitors openly as long as they conform to their
system of justice. The Edo may be a transplanted race since they are governed
by a transdimensional craft that the Edo worship as their god. ("Justice"
[TNG]).
-
Edo
god.
-
("Justice" [TNG]).
-
Edoans.
-
Humanoid species, inhabitants
of Edos. The Edoans are tripodal, with three legs, three arms, and three
fingers on each hand, and a reddish complexion. Edoans are quite long-lived,
and it is highly unusual for there to be more than one child per family.
The population must be kept down due to the longer life factor. As a result,
all children are precious, and families are close. Ancestral records are
kept in great detail, dating back for centuries. Edoans play a flute-like
instrument called a sessica. While the music may be lively or romantic
or plaintive, all of it relates to story-songs which tell the history of
the race or families. SEE: Arex. ([TAS]).
-
Edos.
-
Planet in the Epsilon Minora
system, home of the Edoans. Edos is not a member of the Federation. Rather,
it remains in loose alliance with the Federation, coming under its agreements
for trade, science, and aid in an emergency. Edos lies in the Triangulum
constellation, on the rim of the galaxy. It is a jumping off point for
science teams studying the great energy barrier beyond the rim. It is also
a peaceful planet which has never been involved in a war. The technology
is as advanced as Earth's; the architectural style of its cities is strictly
functional rather than esthetically pleasing. The society has no class
levels, all beings on Edos are equal. Since Edos is within Federation space,
it is home of an office of Starfleet Intelligence Sector One. (Star
Fleet Intelligence--Agent's Orientation Sourcebook [FASA RPG]).
-
Edrich.
-
Commodore at Starfleet Command
in 2370. ("Crossover" [Pocket TNG HC #6]).

was born without the blight shortly before her death. ("The Quickening"
[DS9]). Played by Ellen Wheeler.
-
Ekosians.
-
Humanoid species from Ekos
in the M43 Alpha system. The parent race of the Zeon race on the outermost
world in their system. In violation of the Prime Directive, an undercover
Federation cultural specialist altered the Ekosian culture in 2268 to mimic
the 1930's Terran culture of Nazi Germany. Dr. John Gill hoped to replicate
the efficency and order of the Nazi regime but without the hate and cruelty.
The attempt failed when the Ekosian culture. Only further Federation intervention
stopped this potential mass murder. The Ekosians are almost indistinguishable
from Terrans. ("Patterns of Force" [TOS]).
-
Elasians.
-
Humanoid race from the Tellun
star system with a reputation for being vicious and arrogant. Concluded
a long interplanetary war a century ago and have a since become Federation
members. Their technology has come from primitive limited interplanetary
travel during the war to moderate interstellar capability. Elasian males
are often well over 2 meters tall and their females have a unique neurochemical
drug in their tears that makes humanoid males obey their will. ("Elaan
of Troyius" [TOS]).
-
Elaysians.
-
Unique race of humanoids from
Elaysia II. Elaysians are mostly humanoid with two exceptions. The very
low gravity of their homeworld has caused an atmosphere that is more akin
to pre-terraform Mars than of a class M world. This has created difficulty
in there assimilation into the galactic culture, since no other humanoid
race is as accustomed to low gravity as them. There physiology is very
different also in that they require only .16% oxygen in a standard pressure
enviroment, and the remainder of their energy comes from anaerobic reaction
in their cells. Despite these unique biological differences, Elaysians
eat the same food and look quite similar to other hominids. They require
the use of a limited motor support exoskeleton for living in a standard
class M enviroment. They also cannot interbreed with other humanoid races
because of these differences however. The Elaysians have been members of
the Federation for almost a century however, but few travel offworld because
of the difficulties entailed. ("Melora" [DS9]).
-

-
Elkins, U.S.S.
-
Federation starship, Starfleet
registry NCC-74121. The Elkins was one of the vessels that fought
in the Dominion War. (Technical Manual [DS9]). A photo of this ship
reveals it is comprised of a modified Intrepid model with Constitution
refit nacelles, Danube runabout nacelle pylons and, shockingly enough,
either a backwards Star Wars A-Wing or an F-16 as the secondary hull. The
ship was apparently named for DS9 staffer Judy Elkins, and used in background
fleet scenes during Dominion War story arcs. This photo is a corrected
modification of the Technical Manual picture, edited by Bernd Schneider
of Ex Astris Scientia.
-
Ella.
-
Malon girl, the daughter of
Stvoran and Marssi. ("Demons of Air and Darkness" [Pocket Gateways #4]).
-
Ellia.
-
("No Man's Land" [Pocket
VGR Gateways #5]).
-
Elohim,
U.S.S.
-
Federation starship proposed
during the 23rd century. This vessel's construction was cancelled, and
it's registry was assigned to another vessel. (Technical
Manual [Franz Joseph TOS]; Ships
of the Star Fleet [Mastercom]). It's possible ships of these names
were still built, of different classes and registry numbers. If built,
this ship would have been Achernar-class, with the registry NCC-1792,
according to the manuals.
-
Ellis,
Walter.
-
Lieutenant commander and chief
of security aboard the USS Zimbabwe. He earned 3 citations for bravery,
and the Starfleet Distinguished Service Medal for his actions during the
Kaylar-revolt on planet Rigel VII. ("Judgment Rites" [Interplay TOS]).

old. ("Dax" [DS9]). Played by Anne Haney.
-
Elysia.
-
("Metamorphosis" [Pocket
TNG Giant #1]).
-
Emden,
U.S.S.
-
Federation starship, Starfleet
registry NCC-1856. The Emden was located near Klingon space in 2293
and was part of a planned commando mission called Operation: Retrieve to
rescue political prisoners Kirk and McCoy from Rura Penthe within Klingon
space. The mission failed to receive the go-ahead from President Ra-ghoratrei.
("The
Undiscovered Country" [Movie #6]). The class and type of this ship is unspecified,
it appeared in a background chart.
-

Walter.
-
Captain of the starship Intrepid
in 2376. ("Demons of Air and Darkness" [Pocket Gateways #4]).
-
emissary.
-
Prophesied figure in the Bajoran
faith. It was foretold that the emissary would come to Bajor from another
world, and then meet the Prophets and impart their teachings upon the Bajora.
It was told the emissary would be a non-believer and would save the planet
from its greatest cataclysm. In 2369 Benjamin Sisko became the first corporeal
being to contact the Prophets return from the Celestial Temple, which is
known to science as the Bajoran wormhole. ("Emissary" [DS9 #1&2]).

-
Dabo girl at Quark's in late
2373. ("In the Pale Moonlight" [DS9]).
-
Empok
Nor.
