Origin of a new drink served by Guinan in 2371. Some of the crew found the beverage to be revolting. ("Generations" [Movie #7]).

Space vessel that participated in the 2260s Great Starship Race, an Argelian starship commanded by Steve Daunt. ("The Great Starship Race" [Pocket TOS #67]).

Forrest, Maxwell.
Admiral in the Terran Earth Starfleet in the 2150s. Admiral Forrest was in charge of the NX-class project operations, with the launch of the prototype Enterprise NX-01. ("Broken Bow" [ENT #1&2]). Played by Vaughn Armstrong. Armstrong has played more roles in Star Trek than any other actor. Admiral Forrest, Admiral Leonard and Commander Williams were named as an homage to DeForest Kelley, Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner, the stars of the original Star Trek.

Lieutenant on the starship Voyager. Lieutenant Foster was part of the vessel's special ops combat team, and was assimilated by the Borg while that ship was trapped in the Delta Quadrant. ("Elite Force" [WildStorm adaptation]).
40 Eridani.
Sun around which the planet Vulcan orbits.
Forty Families, U.N.S.S.
United Nations space ship, launched in the early twenty-first century. The Forty Families was a generational colony ship powered by Bussard ramjets that was not expected to reach it's destination for several hundred years. After warp drive was invented, many searches for this ship turned up negative, although crew on the Enterprise thought they had found it in sector 3 in 2269 when Chatalia was discovered. ("World Without End" [Bantam TOS]).

("Rules of Engagement" [Pocket TOS #48]).

Founder. ("The Search" [DS9 #47&48]; "Heart of Stone" [DS9 #60]; "Broken Link" [DS9 #98]). Played by Salome Jens.

Four Years War.
Conflict fought between the Klingon Empire and the United Federation of Planets in the 2250s. The conflict was precipitated by a seemingly unprovoked assault on a Federation outpost on Archanis IV, where 112 Federation men, women and children were killed. Two months later, the Federation protectorate world Axanar was discovered to have been the base of a Klingon garrison when Captain Garth of the starship Xenophon discovered and disabled a Klingon cruiser en route to that world deep within Federation space. Admiral Kkorhetza of the Klingon garrison on Axanar declined the opportunity to surrender Klingon colonial interests on that world and war was declared. (Star Fleet Intelligence--Agent's Orientation Sourcebook [FASA RPG]).

Security ensign on the Enterprise-A, who was discharged from Starfleet after he injected Prefect Witten of New Brinden with a plague in order to buy some time for Dr. McCoy to create a cure for the lower caste on that planet, whom Witten intended to exterminate in order to end the medical emergency. ("The Return" [DC TOS vol. 2 #1]).

The Ferengi word for "ear." Arridor and Kol made the frang the main unit of currency when they took control of a primitive planet in the Delta Quadrant. ("False Profits").
Franklen, U.S.S.
Federation starship, a dreadnought type vessel in the mid to late 23rd century. This ship had a complement was over 500 crewpeople, and was armed with six phaser emplacements and eight launch tubes. (Begin Tactical Starship Simulator [Clockwork Software]).

("The Legacy of Lazarus" [Gold Key TOS #9]).

("Relics" [TNG #130]).
Freedom-class.
Type of Federation starship in service in the 23rd century. Ships of this type include the Freedom and the Firebrand. ("The Best of Both Worlds" [TNG]). The name 'Freedom-class' originates in Michael Okuda's reference works concerning the background models of the Wolf 359 battle scenes.
Frenni.
Race of traders located on the boundaries of Klingon and Federation space.  A Frenni convoy was attacked by the race known as the Ravens in 2268.  The Ravens took over the Frenni crew and used the ships Verella and Selessan to lure the Klingon bird-of-prey Falchion, and later a Federation starship.  ("Dreams of the Raven" [Pocket TOS #34]).

Fries-Posnikoff sector.
Sector of Federation space, proximal to the Klingon border. This sector contains the Gamma 400 star system, the location of the planet Rhodes and of Starbase 12. This sector borders the Typhon sector. ("Space Seed" [TOS]; "Ship of the Line" [Pocket TNG]).
Frobisher, U.S.S.
Federation starship, Frobisher-class, Starfleet registry NCC-350. (Federation Starship Recognition Chart).

Species. ("Emissary" [DS9 #1&2]).
Fuji.
Starfleet command officer who captained an interceptor-type vessel in the mid to late 23rd century. (Begin Tactical Starship Simulator [Clockwork Software]). The game software put each captain name in command of a random vessel each time the game was played.
Fury, I.K.S.
Klingon battleship, D-7 battlecruiser type.  Commanded by Captain Kian.  ("The Final Reflection" [Pocket TOS #16]).
