Vlagro.: Nasgul who was the false Salla in the 2280s. Vlagro siezed power from the rightful Salla, or religious leader, of the Nasgul people. Under his reign, the Nasgul quickly bacame associated with fanatacism and fundamentalism in most of the Alpha Quadrant, causing uneasiness in relations with the Federation. ("The Return" [DC TOS #1]).
Vlugta asteroid belt.: ("Rivals" [DS9]).
Vlugtan star system.: ("Rivals" [DS9]).
Vodrey Nebula.: ("Firstborn" [TNG]).
Volchok Prime.: Planet where Ferengi Hoex bought out his rival Turot's controlling interest in a cargo port. ("The Nagus" [DS9]).
Volcinius, Marcus Julius.: Officer aboard the starship Centurion. ("The Captain's Honor" [Pocket TNG #8]).
Volga, U.S.S.: Federation starship, Danube-class runabout, Starfleet registry NCC-73196. Named after a river in Russia, the Volga was assigned to DS9. In 2372, Major Kira, Doctor Bashir and Keiko O'Brien used the Volga to journey to Torad IV to conduct a three-day botanical survey. On the return trip, the ship encountered an asteroid field which overwhelmed the ship's deflectors. A large rock sideswiped the ship, and O'Brien was severely injured. The Volga was to have been used in the massive response to an anticipated Dominion invasion of the Alpha Quadrant in 2373. ("Body Parts" [DS9]; "By Infeno's Light" [DS9]).
Volim.: Cardassian gul. Volim was a political enemy of Enabran Tain who was assassinated by Elim Garak. ("In Purgatory's Shadow" [DS9]).
Volnoth.: Elderly Gatherer and member of the clan Lornack. He died suddenly during the negotiations on Gamma Hromi II in 2366. Investigation revealed him to have been murdered by a Tralesta, Yuta in vengeance for the Lornacks' massacre of the Tralesta clan in 2286. ("The Vengeance Factor" [TNG]). Played by Marc Lawrence.
Voltaire.: Shuttlepod 03 aboard the starship Enterprise-D, Starfleet registry NCC-1701-D/03. The Voltaire was a type 15 shuttlepod, and was used by Captain Picard to guide the Enterprise-D out of the Mar Oscura nebula in 2367. The craft suffered damage to its starboard impulse nacelle, and lost its inertial damping control. The Voltaire was destroyed before it could exit the nebula. The Voltaire was named for the 18th century French writer and philosopher. (In Theory" [TNG]).
Volterra Nebula: Large gaseous anomaly, a stellar "nursery" in which proto stars are in the process of coalescing from nebular material. The crew of the Enterprise-D conducted a survey mission in the Volterra nebula in 2369. ("The Chase" [TNG]).
Voltak.: Vulcan archaeologist and later archaeology teacher. In 2340, at the age of eight, Voltak was ceremonially betrothed to Selar, the daughter of his father's archaeological colleague. In 2371, Voltak entered Pon farr and he returned to Vulcan and met with Selar. Voltak, suffered a massive coronary during the consummation of their marriage. Selar was caught off guard and her first thought was to break their mind meld and help him medically. He died just as she broke mental contact and thus she was not able to retrieve his katra and it was lost. Selar was profoundly affected by his death and for a number of years she lit a Shantzar in his memory. ("House of Cards" [Pocket NF #1]; "The Two-Front War" [Pocket NF #3]).
Voodieh-class.: Type of Klingon warship used in the last half of the 23rd century. ("All Good Things" [TNG]).
Voodieh, I.K.S.: Klingon warship, prototype of the Voodieh-class. (Conjecture).
voor.: Expensive Lhiaari wine imbibed by Emperor Beytek. ("Seven of Nine" [Pocket VGR #16]).

Vor'cha-class.: Type of Klingon battleship, classified as an attack cruiser. ("Reunion" [TNG]).
Vor'cha, I.K.S.: Klingon battleship, Vor'cha-class attack cruiser. First battleship of its type built. (Conjecture).
Vorgons.: Humanoid race from an undiscovered world. The only contact with them is through Vorgon agents capable of time travel. They always travel in pairs, are infinitely persistent and their operations usually center around objects or persons from the future hidden in the past. The intentions or allegances of the Vorgons are unknown, however. The Vorgons have reddish brown skin with a large cranial ridge reaching from the anterior base of the neck to the edge of the nose. All Vorgons encountered have some sort of cybernetic brain implant on both sides of their head. ("Captain's Holiday" [TNG]).
Vorik.: Vulcan ensign, a crewperson aboard the starship Voyager. Vorik spent summers exploring the Osana caverns, which involved some treacherous climbing. He was an engineer, and assisted B'Elanna Torres with maintenence on the Voyager's plasma injectors during the ship's visit to the Nekrit Expanse. He experienced the pon farr on stardate 50537, and attempted to mate with Torres. A brief physical contact between them initiated the Vulcan telepathic mating bond and caused her to suffer the same neurochemical imbalance. Vorik's pon farr ended when he fought Torres in the ritual koon-ut-kal-if-fee.("Fair Trade" [VGR]; "Blood Fever" [VGR]; "Day of Honor" [VGR]; "The Haunting of Deck 12" [VGR]; "Renaissance Man" [VGR]). Played by Alexander Enberg, who also protrayed Taurik.
Vorn, I.K.S.: Klingon battleship, a bird-of-prey. The Vorn transported Duras to a rendezvous with the Enterprise-D for the Rite of Succession for Chancellor K'Mpec. Duras was killed on this ship by Worf after having Worf's lover, K'Ehleyr murdered. ("Reunion" [TNG]).
Vor'nak, I.K.S.: Klingon warship, commanded by General Tanas, from which five replacement crewmembers, including Alexander, were transferred to the Rotarran. ("Sons and Daughters" [DS9]).
Vorta.: Humanoid race from the Gamma Quadrant known as the enforcers of the Changelings and masters of the Jem'Hadar. With a generally humanoid appearance except for very tight skin and a light grey complexion, they are easily identified. The Vorta have limited telekinetic abilites, but they generally do not use them. They have negligable social, artistic, or scientific activity and seem to exist almost exclusively for the purpose of administrating the Dominion and commanding the Jem'Hadar. ("The Jem'Hadar" [DS9]).
Vo'taq, I.K.S.: Klingon cruiser that destroyed the U.S.S.Gagarin in 2279. Commanded by K'lavut. ("In the Name of Honor" [Pocket TOS]).
Voyager probes.: Series of nonmanned space probe devices launched by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration of Terra's American nation in the late 20th century. The Voyager I and II probes were among the first to explore Jupiter, Saturn and the outer Sol system in the 1970s. Voyager VI, launched in 1999, fell into an anomaly that deposited it on the other side of the galaxy where it was refurbished by a branch of the Borg. ("The Motion Picture" [Movie #1]).
Voyager VI.: America's sixth Voyager series probe, launched in 1999. Voyager VI found itself dropped into the Delta Quadrant by a spatial anomaly and was discovered by a branch of the Borg who provided it with sentience and the means to return to Earth and find its creator. The probe, damaged, referred to itself as V'Ger, a condensation of its name after that. ("The Motion Picture" [Movie #1]; "The Return" [Pocket TOS HC]).

Voyager, U.S.S.: Federation starship, Intrepid-class light cruiser, Starfleet registry NCC-74656. Commanded by Captain Kathryn Janeway, built in 2371 at Utopia Planitia shipyards in Mars orbit. State of the art, Voyager's features include a continuum-safe warp drive with adjustible geometry warp nacelles and a new bio-neural computer system. The Voyager's first mission was to seek out a group of fugitive Maquis in the Badlands, an area of space that only the new Intrepid-class Voyager could navigate. The command crew included Captain Janeway, First Officer Cavit, Helmsman Stadi and Operations Chief Kim, and special consultant and former Maquis Tom Paris. Security Chief Tuvok was on an undercover mission, infiltrating the crew of the Maquis cell they were pursuing. While investigating the scene of a recent battle in the Badlands, which had occurred between the Maquis raider Liberty and a Cardassian warship, Voyager was struck by a wave of gravimetric interference which catapulted the vessel at high speeds to the far end of the Delta Quadrant. During the rough trip, several members of Voyager's crew were killed, including First Officer Cavit, Helmsman Stadi, the chief engineer, the chief medical officer and the nurse. When the crew of Voyager investigated their new surroundings, they found a large Array operated by a being known as the Caretaker, who collected starships from across the galaxy to attempt to infuse their crews with his biology so theywould be able to continue his efforts supplying power to the Ocampan people and protecting them from the Kazon. ("Caretaker" [VGR #1&2]). Voyager's unnamed chief medical officer was played by Jeff McCarthy in "Caretaker." A readout of deceased crewmembers in "Imperfection" revealed three officers above the rank of lieutenant commander, a Cmdr. J. Bartlett, Lt. Cmdr. L. McLaren and Lt. Cmdr. T. Zielen. Therefore, using logic, it must be inferred that the doctor's name was either Zielen or McLaren. Its also likely one other name referrs to the ships engineer who died before being seen.
Vreenak.: Romulan senator, the vice-chairman of the Tal Shiar and a trusted advisor of the proconsul. He was a key member of the Romulan senate for 14 years, and negotiated the Dominion nonaggression treaty and remained a strong supporter of remaining out of the war. On the way home from a diplomatic meeting with Weyoun on Soukara, he stopped at DS9, where he viewed a holorecording of the Dominion plotting to invade Romulus. After examination of the rod proved the recording to be faked by Captain Sisko, he vowed to expose Sisko's action. He was apparently killed by the Dominion, although his shuttle was sabotaged by Garak. Evidence of the planned invasion of Romulus found in the wreckage led to the Romulan Empire joining the war. ("In the Pale Moonlight" [DS9]). Played by Stephen McHattie.
Vren, Trelos.: A thief who was arrested outside the Klingon restaurant on four counts of pickpocketing. Odo and Kira had arrested him once before for attempting to break into the assay office. ("Indiscretion" [DS9]).
Vulcan.: Federation planet, homeworld of the Vulcan people. ("Amok Time" [TOS]).
Vulcan harp.: Musical instrument of Vulcan design, also referred to as the Vulcan lute or the Vulcan lyrette. ("Charlie X" [TOS]).
Vulcan ships.: SEE: Maymora-class, Suurok-class, scout vessel, warp shuttle.
Vulcanians.: Alternate name for inhabitants of Vulcan. SEE: Vulcans.
Vulcanis.: Alternate name for the planet Vulcan.
Vulcans.: Technologically sophisticated humanoid species native to planet Vulcan. Vulcans can be denoted by their pale greenish-yellow hue, upraised eyebrows and pointed ears. The Vulcans originate from a homeworld in the 40 Eridani star system, and made contact with Terrans in 2063. The Vulcan species has evolved a highly ordered, intuitive brain and telepathic abilities, but has a propensity towards passionate expressions of their emotions. It is for this reason that most Vulcans have adopted a philosophy of logic and self-control, allowing them to exist free of their emotions. Vulcanoid species are common in the Alpha Quadrant, both through colonization such as the Romulans and the Debrune, and through apparent genetic code seeding, such as the Mintakans. From their society based on total logic and absolute repression of all emotions, Vulcans often seem cold and machine like by other species. Trappings of emotion are considered to be socially unacceptable. Prominent and founding members of the Federation, Vulcans are known for their advances in computer science as well as their excellent negotiation skills, making them ideal diplomats. Vulcans have limited telepathic abilites but are reserved for personal use or when other methods of communication have failed. Vulcans are quite strong and have remarkable endurance. Vyrsta, Del.: Associate of the Defense Forces Institute who contributed material to the publication of the 2290 edition of Ships of the Star Fleet concerning modifications and configurations of Starfleet vessels. (Ships of the Star Fleet [Mastercom]).
